Group Breaks to Edinburgh
Leading from the castle is the Royal Mile, winding down past finely preserved terraces, to Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh’s royal residence. Head out of the centre and the Royal Yacht Britannia is a treasure trove of royal life on the high seas, or head to Roslin Chapel and follow in the footsteps of the best-selling novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
In the evening the city is a vibrant city of bars, restaurants and nightlife, with music and theatre.
In August, Edinburgh really comes alive with the ever-popular Edinburgh Tattoo. First performed in 1950 as the army’s contribution to the Edinburgh Festival, the Military Tattoo has become a much-loved annual event, held for a period of three weeks in August on the floodlit Castle Esplanade. Whilst primarily a military display, it is a colourful and exciting performance by marching bands in a dramatic evening setting high above the city.
