Group Breaks to East Coast and Royal Scotland
Further south and you enter Royal Deeside with its many associations with royalty over the years. At its heart is Balmoral Castle – Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite holiday retreat – while the surrounding heathered landscapes are woven into the royal love affair with this region, including the charming town of Ballater and Braemar – home of the Highland Games.
Glamis Castle was the childhood home of the Queen Mother and the old university town of St Andrew’s was the meeting place of The Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as being the home of golf.
To the west the tourist honeypot of Pitlochry with its salmon ladders is always a popular draw before reaching Queen’s View – Queen Victoria’s favourite vista overlooking the shimmering waters of Loch Tumel.
