DUBLIN

Situated on the east coast at the mouth of the River Liffey, Dublin is so much more than Ireland’s capital. It is a vibrant and lively city, but also has an appealing charm about it, as well as a rich and cultural history. Talented buskers and street artists can be found on streets that combine modern and old. But there are plenty of green spaces such as the vast Phoenix Park or the elegant St Stephen’s Square. Visit St Patrick’s Cathedral, which dates back to the 13th Century or take a tour at Dublin Castle, where you will get an insight into the city’s past. Dubliners are known for their hospitality and the city is ranked as one of the friendliest in the world, and with plenty attractions on offer, from the Guinness Store House to the Little Museum of Dublin, you will be spoilt for choice.

KILLARNEY

The beautiful southwest of Ireland was simply made for holidays and lovely Killarney, a town situated on the shores of Lough Leane in the southwest county of Kerry, is one of Ireland’s most popular tourist centres. There is so much history and heritage to explore here, including St Mary’s Cathedral and the Killarney National Park. The Victorian mansion, Muckross House, sits within the grounds of the park too, and is well worth a visit. And of course, Killarney is a stop on the famous Ring of Kerry scenic drive and both the starting and finishing point of the Kerry Way Walking Trial. With the town’s renowned world class hospitality and so much to see and do, you really will be treated to the perfect Killarney experience.

THE RING OF KERRY

One of the biggest tourist draw in Ireland, the Ring of Kerry attracts visitors from far and wide. Set in the southwest coast of Ireland over 179km of road, the route begins and ends in the town of Killarney and goes all around the Iveragh Peninsula. It really is a scenic treasure trove that offers everything from sheer cliff drops and waterfalls to lush green hills, winding rivers and tranquil lakes. Along the way, you will see such highlights as the mountain passes of Moll’s Gap and the Gap of Dunloe, plus Torc Waterfall, a 20ft high cascade waterfall, which lies at the foot of the Torc Mountain. And not forgetting the grand houses and castles that are also on your route.

GALWAY

Galway is made up of epic coastlines, fantastic beaches, and magnificent mountain peaks and at the heart of this dramatic county is its namesake, the harbour city of Galway. Lying where the River Corrib meets the Atlantic Ocean, this bohemian city is also a hugely popular seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches and is also known as ‘the city of the tribes’. It has a cosmopolitan centre and a rich history, including a Latin Quarter, that retains part of the medieval city walls and is filled with cobbled streets and colourful buildings filled with cafes, boutiques, and art galleries, where you can experience the city’s culture, as well as exceptional food, music and that wonderful Irish welcome. Galway forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way, staking claim as the only city on the 2500km route.

CONNEMARA

Connemara really is the Ireland of Dreams! From the sweeping Galway Bay, Connemara is a blend of epic coastlines, fantastic beaches, and magnificent mountain peaks – the epitome of the Ireland that visitors imagine. Exploring by coach is the best way to see Connemara, relaxing and enjoying the views of wonderous lakes and thatched whitewashed cottages. Amid the scenery you discover the castellated mansion of Kylemore Abbey, Ireland’s only fjord at Killary Harbour and the pretty seaside heritage town of Westport, set on the edge of an Atlantic inlet, and adorned with a tree-lined promenade and stone bridges crossing the Carrowbeg River.

DONEGAL

With 400 miles of rugged coastline, carved by the Atlantic over millions of years, County Donegal is the northernmost county of Ireland and has spectacular views at every turn. It is one of the most scenic parts of country, so it is no surprise it’s a significant feature of the Wild Atlantic Way. The landscape is ruled by the majestic Derryveagh Mountains and there are many walking trails, plus some of the finest beaches Ireland has to offer. Portsalon Beach is certainly worth a visit with its white sand, while the town of Donegal is steeped in history. Located at the mouth of the River Eske, it has both a castle, built in the 15th Century and with later additions for the Jacobean period, plus the ruins of a Franciscan friary.

WEST PORT

Also on the west coast, but in the county of Mayo, the seaside heritage town of West Port is set on the edge of an Atlantic inlet and forms part of the famous Wild Atlantic Way. This remote area of Ireland is filled with rugged beauty and Westport’s charming Georgian town centre is wonderfully picturesque and has lots to explore. Wander the tree-lined promenade, which has stone bridges crossing the Carrowbeg River, or perhaps visit Rockfleet Castle and Burrishoole Abbey. Both located in the northwest, these buildings have ties to the 16th Century pirate queen, Grace O’Malley. Other attractions include the Great Western Greenway, a rail trail for bikes and pedestrians that starts in Westport and finishes on Achill Island. There is also Clew Bay, Westport House, Clare Island and Croagh Patrick.
