Killarney
The beautiful southwest of Ireland was simply made for holidays and lovely Killarney, a town situated on the shores of Lough Leane in the southwest county of Kerry, is one of Ireland’s most popular tourist centres. There is so much history and heritage to explore here, including St Mary’s Cathedral and the Killarney National Park.
The Victorian mansion, Muckross House, sits within the grounds of the park too, and is well worth a visit. And of course, Killarney is a stop on the famous Ring of Kerry scenic drive and both the starting and finishing point of the Kerry Way Walking Trial. With the town’s renowned world class hospitality and so much to see and do, you really will be treated to the perfect Killarney experience.
The Ring of Kerry
One of the biggest tourist attractions in Ireland, the Ring of Kerry attracts visitors from far and wide. Set in the southwest coast of Ireland over 179km of road, the route begins and ends in the town of Killarney and goes all around the Iveragh Peninsula.
It really is a scenic treasure trove that offers everything from sheer cliff drops and waterfalls to lush green hills, winding rivers and tranquil lakes. Along the way, you will see such highlights as the mountain passes of Moll’s Gap and the Gap of Dunloe, plus Torc Waterfall, a 20ft high cascade waterfall, which lies at the foot of the Torc Mountain. And not forgetting the grand houses and castles that are also on your route.
Dingle Peninsula
Stretching 10 miles along Ireland’s rugged Atlantic Coast, from Tralee to Slea Head, the Dingle Peninsula offers breathtaking views. Along the coastline you will find small coves tucked between craggy cliffs and sandy beaches that stretch for miles, while further inland are the rolling green hills Ireland is famed for and Mount Brandon, which at 952 metres tall, is in the top ten highest peaks in the country.
