Group Breaks in Durham
The cathedral is synonymous with the Venerable Bede and ancient Christianity while the castle is now part of Durham University. Cobbled streets lead down to the large market square where an indoor market hall can be found.
Continue through the winding streets and take in the views of the river from Framwellgate Bridge before taking a stroll along the riverbank. Alternatively Durham has two shopping centres and many bars and restaurants to enjoy.
Away from the city and County Durham has wonderful countryside across Weardale, while Beamish Open Air Museum is a comprehensive experience of the North East’s past, complete with trams, pit village and colliery to explore.
