Constable Country:
Set within Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Dedham Vale commonly known as Constable Country was named so due to its strong connections with artist John Constable as it was his place of birth and where he painted his most celebrated works including most famous The Hay Wain, here the white cottage from the painting is still visible, there’s also Flatford Mill, Bridge Cottage and lots of nice walks around the rural area.
Lavenham and Sudbury:
Lavenham is set within Suffolk and is noted for its Guildhall, Little Hall, 15th-century church, half-timbered medieval cottages, and circular walks. Sudbury is just 15 minute drive from Lavenham and is a pretty market town set on the River Stour and surrounded by water meadows.
English Heritage Framlingham Castle:
Surrounded by parkland and a picturesque lake, Framlingham Castle was once a 12th century stronghold of the powerful earls and dukes of Norfolk. Here you can walk around the spectacular wall to admire stunning views over the town and countryside and uncover the castles secrets and stories.
National Trust Sutton Hoo:
Awe-inspiring Anglo-Saxon royal burial site and home to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time and has a 17-metre high viewing tower. You can also visit Tranmer House, the former home of Edith Pretty, built in 1910 with displays exploring the archaeological work that has taken place at Sutton Hoo.
Colchester:
Britain's First City and the former capital of Roman Britain Colchester’s rich history dates back over 2000 years. The city has a strong cultural identity, with numerous galleries, theatres and arts venues as well as a bustling city centre with plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities.
Beth Chatto Gardens:
Beth Chattos work at the Gardens began in 1960, she took an overgrown wasteland of brambles, parched gravel and boggy ditches, transforming it using plants adapted by nature to thrive in different conditions: right plant, right place. An inspirational, informal garden has developed.
