Reputed as the oldest leisure resort in Britain, as far back as the 18th Century visitors have been attracted to its long esplanade, wonderful beaches and warm climate, sheltered by the shores of the English Riviera to the west and offering a gateway to the historic Jurassic Coast to the east.

From the waterside you can take boat rides along the River Exe and the spectacular Jurassic Coast or relax in the resort with a Devon cream tea.

It is also a perfect location for exploring East Devon and the Dorset Coast. A short drive takes you to the twin resorts of Sidmouth and Seaton at the gateway to the Jurassic Coast, to the west is the cathedral city of Exeter. For garden lovers, Bicton Park Botanical Gardens is a delight and Forde Abbey & Gardens is a secret gem.
